The Year 8 pupils were challenged to call upon teamwork like they have never experienced before as they were tasked with the exciting project of staging this full-scale musical in the two weeks between CE exams and their final Westbourne Award trip to Dartmoor!
The Year 8s were stars to work with, approaching the demanding project with commendable energy, humour and motivation. Roles towards the show were diverse from performing, control box operations, set building to costume support. No other musical demands so many costume changes and the children did remarkably well to transform into their next outfit at lighting quick speed.
Congratulations to all the cast for so many terrific performances. Polly Bigham was barely ever off stage for almost three hours as the lead role of Maria and should receive special praise for her extraordinarily mature performance. How lovely to discover on the morning of the performance that it was also her birthday! From riotous Nazi concerts to high jinks at lavish parties, this fast-paced show was a very colourful evening, which I hope generated lots of photos for the children to keep for memories.
Thank you for such a wonderful treat last night - what an amazing performance, my parents and I were blown away with how good it was.
