The Year 6 cast of Rainmaker transported us with incredible energy into a wild musical about a corrupt Guatemalan rain god battling frenzied parrots. The Year 6 pupils were stars to work with – throwing all of their energies into a production featuring whacky tunes, outlandish characters, madcap dance routines and an outrageous plot.
With bubbling zest, the pupils excelled themselves, producing vibrant showpieces on a stunning set that featured a real smoking volcano, a sand-covered stage and pulleys to take cast members up to the ceiling. They worked commendably hard all round with terrific teamwork. Whilst the musical was zany, the attraction was the feel-good vibe of the piece that allowed huge numbers of characters to frequently be on stage during the show, something that the Year 6 pupils have relished and appreciated. It certainly was a very special night of theatre and hard to believe that most of the cast were just 10 years old. Thank you to all of the helpers for adding extraordinary dimensions to such a colourful production.
